No. the Alexander Technique is taught with gentle guiding hands. The important part of the lesson is that you are in charge of your own learning and the changes that happen.
Whatever you normally wear is fine. The lessons will be conducted fully clothed. You may be asked to remove your shoes.
We may also work lying down so you may feel more comfortable in trousers rather than a skirt.

Most people benefit from around 20 regular lessons and to begin with it is beneficial to come for a minimum of two lessons a week for a couple of weeks in order to really make use of the new skills you will learn in all aspects of your life. However we are all individual and everyone’s needs vary so the lessons can be flexible according to your needs.
This may seem like a big commitment. It is a big commitment to make changes to your life, but once you have learnt to use the skills in your life you will be able to use them for the rest of your life.
After a period of lessons I will encourage you to stop in order to make use of the skills you have learned on your own. You can then come back to lessons as you feel you need them.

Everyone is individual and it depends on the specific problem. It is possible that the Alexander Technique will help the problem by working indirectly with your use. It will certainly change your reaction to the discomfort or pain.
